Built in the DMV: Meet Dr. Jennifer Yen of Healing Acupuncture and Wellness

Dr. Jennifer Yen

Dr. Jennifer Yen did not set out to run two clinics. She set out to help people feel better, one patient at a time, and the practice grew around that. Today Healing Acupuncture and Wellness serves patients across the DMV, and the calendar rarely has an empty afternoon.

Ask her what the practice is really about and the answer is not a treatment list. It is the person on the table. That focus is what regulars remember, and it is why a first visit so often turns into a standing appointment.

I want every patient to feel like the practice was built around their visit, because in a way it was.

Running two locations means the phone never really stops. Patients call to book, to reschedule, to ask whether a treatment is right for them. Some of those calls come long after the doors close for the day, and for a long time those callers had to wait until morning.

That is the quieter story behind a busy practice. The demand was always there in the evenings and on weekends. What changed was making sure someone, or something, was there to answer it, so a patient who reached out at night could book a visit instead of waiting.

People do not plan their pain around office hours. Being reachable when they need us matters.

For all the growth, the through line has not moved. The practice is still built around the patient in front of her, and the systems around it exist to protect that, not to replace it. That is what Built in the DMV is here to spotlight: the owner behind the business, and the care that made it worth building.
